The Story

The three articles that follow were published in the Sun Times NYC (1885), the Syracuse Post Standard (1901) and an unidentified newspaper that appears to be from the NYC area (circa 1885). These articles started me on my art history journey and they show the effort my family made five generations ago to bring attention to this painting. Some of the information contained in them proved to be incorrect but, combined with my own research and that of Antonio’s, we have been able to piece together the complete and correct history of this painting.
